Though he hasn't always considered himself an artist, Louis LaBoy has engaged in various forms of creativity and art throughout his life. A transformative encounter with an inspiring woman revealed his potential and expanded his understanding of perspective, igniting his intentional artistic journey.
Now, with nearly a year of painting behind him, his background in building and designing homes deeply informs his artistic approach. LaBoy primarily focuses on abstract work and often begins his creative process with a vision—actually feeling the canvas as he starts. One of his recent pieces, integrating discarded candy wrappers and acrylic paint, captures the essence of a recent family weekend full of art, conversation, and love.
Surrounded by an extraordinary group of artist friends, LaBoy draws daily inspiration from their talent and support. They help him grow and help him silence the ego’s negative voice that says he’s not yet "good enough". LaBoy also finds influence in Pablo Picasso’s unique approach to form and perspective, his freedom and comfort in not staying within the lines, and embracing the idea of having no boundaries.
LaBoy also writes poetry, including this favorite line of his own:
"Your smile, like a beacon of light, cuts through the noise and reminds me to pause, to breathe, and to appreciate the small but meaningful moments that make life worth living."
